May 2026 Installation of Officers

Sunflowers are associated with loyalty and devotion because they track the sun’s movement throughout the day. They can symbolize a commitment to a person or cause, or staying true to one’s values. They are known as happy flowers because of their association with the sun and their bright cheery colors. Sunflowers can brighten someone’s mood and bring joy to those around them. These flowers have to all of us a, historic symbolism that speaks of frontier days of pathless prairies and are full of the life and glory of the past, the pride of the present and richly emblematic of the majesty of a golden future. They stand tall and straight to combat the heat and winds of summer and give us security, comfort and faith in the future.

President – Karen Yoder While the roots, stem and green leaves make up the framework of our Sunflower, it is the beautiful golden-yellow flower head that shows us the plant’s vigor, dignity and beauty. This is exemplified in the office of President. As our Sunflower depends upon its roots, stem and leaves to provide it with everything for growth, so does each club member depend upon their President to provide them with the necessary information and guidance to insure the club’s successful and lasting program. The President must be prepared to conduct these meetings with dignity so the club will benefit. She must represent the club at all times. As President, you will be called upon many times to represent our organization in various capacities. You bring a rich background to the office. The honor conferred upon you by the members of the club is the highest within its power. This position is one of great responsibility, and your acceptance of the responsibility is indicative of your willingness to serve. We have every confidence in your ability to guide our members with the strength and purpose of your confidence in this office.

Vice President – Nancy Malaowicz In this position you represent the bud of the Sunflower. Through your thought and care during this administration will lead to the future beauty and usefulness of our organization. By attending the Trust meetings you represent our support of and dedication to this building. Upon the Vice President rests a heavy responsibility. You also serve as deputy for the President, and should she be unable to perform her duties, you must fill her place to the best of your ability.

Treasurer – Linda Donnon The office of the Treasurer is a most responsible position. As the wrapping of the stem safeguards the living plant beneath it, so does the Treasurer carefully guard the finances that are the lifeblood of the organization. She must keep accurate records of all transactions and be responsible for all monies deposited and withdrawn. It is the duty of the Treasurer to aid the President in any means and to strengthen the club by carefully overseeing the financial program.

Corresponding Secretary – Delores Knight You represent the textile fibers of the stalk of the Sunflower. These fibers are of great importance to the final beauty of the flowers. The correspondence reflects the nature of our club. You must attend to all correspondence promptly. Keeping in touch with the “Friends”, long time members who are no longer able to attend functions, is a lovely way to honor their time with us.

Recording Secretary – Pat Mitchell You represent the leaves of the sunflower. The leaves of this flower are the background for the plant. Through them, the plant breathes as it gives out new life within the plant. By keeping a careful record of all things that occur in meetings and report them when called upon you are the recorder of our work. The Secretary must always be willing to use every means at her command to assist the President in conducting the meetings and supporting the policies of the club.

Now I ask the newly elected officers to raise your right hand in a silent pledge to fulfill the duties of your respective offices to the best of your ability. Please answer “I will”.

I declare you duly installed and wish for you that the beautiful golden rays of our lovely Sunflowers will shine upon you throughout the coming year.
